Bishop Speechly was a friend of the Bartons in India, and is mentioned in the *Memoirs of Emily Elliott.

Bishop Speechly was also (presumably by coincidence) related to Mary Bushby (4th cousin twice removed), who married Lt. Col. Ted Barton (1897-1971).

Even more curiously, my own wife is a Speechley, whose ancestry traces back to Whittlesey, as does the Bishop's.
